"Morbid Humor" Collection on Redbubble!

This series is not for the faint of heart. This is for those who possess a particular sense of humor. A "Game of Thrones"- esque, old school video gamer sense of humor. It is a series of digital pixel illustrations featuring the more unpleasant forms of punishment used during the Dark Ages and the Medieval period. The most horrid part is the use of pop culture references. The horror, the horror!

All are available for purchase on Redbubble. Get it on a postcard to send to a friend, a pillow so you can rest your head, or a sticker so you can put it anywhere! (The copyright will not be on the finished product.)

How's It Hanging?

This is a play on words. Also, it should be self explanatory.

Nice Rack

This is in reference to the "rack", a machine that
would pull the intended victim's arms and legs to
get a confession out of them. It is, also, a reference
to a slang term for a person't bust.

Stay Right There

This piece features Vlad the Impaler's
favorite way to keep people in one place.

Cat Scratch Fever

This piece's title is in reference to a torture
device called the "Cat's Paw". It was shaped
like cat claws and they were used to rip off
skin of the woeful victim.

Whip It Good

This piece's title is in reference to an 80's classic
and Devo's one hit wonder "Whip It".
The picture features a man whipping someone else.

This Beat Is Hawt!

This wasn't necessarily used in medieval times,
although they would burn feet. But it was found
in a fairy tale in which an evil witch is forced to
put on flaming hot metal shoes and 'dances' her
way to death. "Hawt" is actually an acronym that
stands for "Having A Wonderful Time"
while also meaning "hot".

We Will Rock You

This depicts a classic stoning during which the
intended victim would be pelted with stones
until his demise. It also references Queen's
stadium anthem, "We Will Rock You".

Hot In Herre

This features a victim being burned to death.
The title is in reference to Nelly's "Getting Hot in Here".

Saw You There

This one is a play on words. It features a death
by sawing, during which the victim would be hung
upside down by his legs and would be sawed
in half through the groin while still alive.

Give Head

This features a classic beheading with the head
decorating the end of a pike. It also features a
double entendre that should be self-explanatory.
It is always better to give than to receive.

Take A Break

This features the infamous wheel to which the
intended victim would be strapped down
and turned over a spit of nails with the sharp ends
turned towards the victim. The title of the
piece is simply a play on words.

Quarterly Review

This features one of the oldest forms of execution in France.
Each of the victim's limbs was tied to four horses. The horses
were then made to take off in different directions thereby
pulling the victim apart. Hence the title, "Quarterly Review".

"Wanted" Manga Book Review

WantedWanted by Matsuri Hino
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

• From the creator of MeruPuri and Vampire Knight, also available from VIZ Media.• 40-page bonus story included (unrelated to Wanted)

• Vampire Knight and MeruPuri combined have sold through over 150k units in the U.S. to date.

• To be previewed and promoted in the August 2008 issue of Shojo Beat magazine.

• Japanese fans have been asking for a sequel.

"In the Mediterranean at end of the 17th century, former songstress Armeria disguises herself as a boy and boards the ship of the pirate Skulls--the man who kidnapped Luce, her first love. Captain Skulls is arrogant, violent, and a skirt chaser! And unfortunately for Armeria, he discovers she's a woman..."

I enjoyed this one-shot of manga. I thought it was beautifully drawn and written. I loved the artwork! I heard that there is a second part to this series, but it hasn't been translated yet? Which is good, because there was a bit of a cliff-hanger at the end.

I enjoyed Matsuri Hino's other work "Meri Puri" which is a four book series and beautifully done.

Overall, I liked it and am looking forward to more!

Nick Pitera Chibi Illustration and "This Is Halloween" Cover

Nick Pitera. Courtesy of Google.
You're welcome.
So I recently discovered this new singer on Youtube, Nick Pitera. He's quite cute and has an amazing range. Also, slightly goofy and fun! And look at that hair!

As is the way with me, I have fallen in love with him! I found all of his stuff, like his Youtube channel, his iTunes page (I have already downloaded all of the songs - he needs to add more), and his Spread Shirt store.

And I'm not the only one, oh no! He's already got a Facebook fanpage of over 82 thousand people and a street team fanpage devoted to strengthening his career. There is even a Buzzfeed column on him.

The covers I love the most are his One Man Les Miserables video, his One Man The Phantom of the Opera (he even does Christine!), and his version of "Brokenhearted" because that song is awesome in general!

Anyway, I didn't get to spend my October like I had wanted this year - damn work and bills! And damn my friends work and bills! So I created a cute little chibi illustration of Mr. Pitera for the festive spirit of the spooky season! Check it out:

"Interview with the Vampire: Claudia's Story" Book Review

Interview with the Vampire: Claudia's StoryInterview with the Vampire: Claudia's Story by Ashley Marie Witter
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

"A richly-illustrated adaptation of Anne Rice's 'Interview with the Vampire', told through the eyes of the vampire Claudia, who was just a little girl when she was turned by the vampire Lestat. Though she spends many years of happiness with her two vampire fathers, she gradually grows discontent with their insistence upon treating her like a little girl, even though she has lived as long as any mortal man...and her lust to kill is certainly no less than theirs..." Adapted and illustrated by Ashley Marie Witter.

I love bookstores! But more than anything, I love walking into a bookstore with nothing particular in mind and then walking out with a gem! I loved this book! It is so beautiful!

The artwork is amazing! I really liked that it wasn't just black and white - the sepia tones with the dashes of red were stunning! It did remind me of the movie at some parts. But I think that was just on my end, because the characters don't look anything like those actors. Just some of the things they said were the same - because they're based on the same book "Interview with the Vampire".

The story is the same as it is in the book, with some embellishing for those who already know who Claudia is. Claudia was never my favorite character, but I did feel pity for her. Granted, I read that story a long time ago and it is still intriguing to me - a child vampire, so powerful and yet so defenseless at the same time.

I don't think this could be used as an introduction to a new reader though. It literally just jumps right in. You have no back story on any of the characters, except Claudia, which is fine for someone who has already read the books, but Lestat and Louis need some explaining. And Armand, come to think of it.

But overall, beautiful book and worthwhile for the Anne Rice fan.

I give this book the eternal kiss of five stars.
